About Us‎ > ‎

The overall objectives of the Owners Corporation Network are defined in its Rules of Association, viz:

To provide a forum for members of owners corporations registered under the Unit Titles Act to share information on the effective operation of such corporations and to provide a coordinated representative voice in discussion with other stakeholders in the development and operation in the Unit Titles living sector, complementing but not replacing the core functions of each owners corporation in the management of individual corporations”

In pursuit of those objectives, OCN

  •  Represents the interest of owners and residents in Owners Corporations to the ACT government at political, policy and administrative levels and participates in related reviews and policy development.

  • Represents the interest of owners to the OC management sector with a view to better matching the services it provides to those that owners corporations need and are entitled to expect

  • Provides informed lay advice to owners particularly relating to their statutory rights and obligations.

  • Assists owners make formal complaints to regulators and, if necessary, adjudicators.

The manner in which the OCN might seek to attain these objectives will of course vary over a period, depending on the challenges being faced and the needs of its members being expressed. Literally dozens of issues arise, but two aspects of perennial concern are issues to do with the quality of buildings and difficulties having defects rectified, and the need to improve the standards of management of owners corporations, whether by executive committee or professional managers employed by owners corporations.

Any significant development in these (or any other) areas will be reported on the website.
